My time at Beyond Identity was a mixed bag, filled with several disappointments and frustrations. While the company had potential, certain practices and the overall lack of vision hindered its progress. It was truly disconcerting to observe the CEO's misplaced priorities, as they seemed more focused on indulging in luxuries like jet fuel, golfing, and teeth whitening rather than providing a fair and honorable severance package. This blatant disregard for the well-being of employees felt like a complete betrayal. Furthermore, the CTO's management style left much to be desired. Not only did the CTO exhibit bullying behavior, but the overall management of the engineering organization was subpar, reflecting a lack of competence and professionalism. Despite having a sizable team of 80 or more engineers, the company failed to deliver anything groundbreaking or innovative. Speaking of vision, it was sorely lacking at all levels of leadership. The CTO, CRO, and CEO seemed to lack a clear direction for the company's future, leaving employees feeling adrift and uncertain. This lack of vision trickled down to the entire organization, stifling creativity and hindering progress. Nepotism was also a prevailing issue within the company. It was disheartening to witness individuals with no sales track record holding positions solely due to familial connections with the CRO. This blatant favoritism created an unfair and demoralizing work environment. Lastly, the marketing efforts, particularly the emphasis on Zero Trust Authentication (ZTA), felt lackluster and unoriginal. It seemed like a desperate attempt to ride the wave of a popular industry buzzword rather than offering truly innovative solutions. Overall, my experience at Beyond Identity was marred by questionable practices, a lack of vision, and a toxic work culture due to nepotism and poor leadership. While there were glimpses of potential, the company failed to live up to expectations, leaving much room for improvement.
