Pros

- Small company so there are opportunities for advancement
- casual work environment
- competitive pay
- get stuff published everyday

Cons

- Long hours
- little feedback from managers, especially in the satellite offices
- didn't form relationship with the managers and editors

Advice to Management

Make an effort to manage the employees, especially when they are new and in the satellite offices. Its often unclear if we were meeting expectations.

    I have been working at BioCentury Publications full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Challenging problem set. Pharmaceuticals is a wide business, with lots of interesting areas.
    I believe that David F. wants to 'The Right Thing'
    A lot of passionate people
    Competitive Compensation

    Cons

    Terrible at execution. Dozens of promising business lines and products, implementation is poor.
    Horrible mid-level management. From HR, to IT, the company shows its legacy as a small company.
    Culture of meetings, negativity and pessimism. 'That won't work!' is practically a BioCentury motto.
    High turnover is mission critical departments.
    Actually have heard the old saw, 'We don't have competition from Sr. Management.' [They do have competition]
    Editorial runs the show. Period. Don't bring new ideas. They know best. Full stop.

    Advice to Management

    Demand ROI on projects.
    Eliminate wasteful meetings
    Implement candid, 360 reviews of executive leadership.
    Prune the deadwood.
    Don't accept late projects and cost overruns.
