I have been working at Bioclinica (More than 3 years)

Pros

Small company - politics not a huge issue. You know you're colleagues. Access to directors and senior management.

Cons

Like with any small company, it grows and slowly begins to sell out trying to gain the big clients etc...

I worked at Bioclinica full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Clean work environment, some really great and knowledgeable co-workers, decent benefits package, good work hours, rarely needed to work overtime. Employee birthday parties provided by company, many paid lunches and events. Awesome annual holiday party every year. Plentiful parking, decent location.

    Cons

Some very clique-ish groups and managers, little to no opportunity to grow; very competitive and political atmosphere. Disputes and harassment not handled well by management, such as the person on the bottom usually being the 'fall guy' when something goes wrong. Supervisors tend to come out unscathed while bottom level employees are punished.
Sometimes workflows were too small, leading to boredom. Supervisors were lax in keeping employees busy. Xmas bonuses 86'ed, same with performance bonuses. Lack of decent incentives.

    Advice to Management

Get more involved directly with the people who do the work instead of the ones who supervise them, recognize the cliques and break them up- they are killing company productivity.

    Pros

Co-workers are nice and easy to talk to

You get to work with a variety of clients

Most Managers are approachable and are willing to help you learn

    Cons

The company continually thinks that they can do more work with fewer people.

The turnover rate in the Project Management department is really high probably due to burnout.

They promise a lot and don't follow through.

They have guidelines for promotions but it doesn't seem to be followed.

They have an orientation system for training new hires where you have meetings with every department, but it took a year to complete because it took them so long to schedule the meetings. By the time the meetings took place, I didn't really need them because I had been working closely with that department for months.

No respect of work-life balance although they claim to and the salary isn't adequate for the number of hours worked.

The departments are often trying to shift the blame when something goes wrong, but it is usually due to being very understaffed for the amount of work.

    Advice to Management

Stop overworking everyone and provide enough staff for the number of projects in every department. People are constantly worried about losing their jobs so are always trying to shift blame. Sales promises every client the fastest turnaround time, but there aren't enough people to accomplish this, which causes some friction within the departments determining which projects are priority.
