I have been working at BlackRock full-time

    Pros

Best asset mgmt firm in the world. Huge firm with a lot of smart people.

    Cons

A lot of politics in the office. Cut throat culture. The firm is 80% male and lacks female. People work hard and there is hardly any work life balance. Most people are 30-50 years old and don't have families and dedicate their life and soul to finance.

I have been working at BlackRock full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great opportunities to get involved, 'nice' people--everyone is willing to help you learn. Diverse work, and plenty of opportunities to develop marketable skills. Great firm culture. Pretty good hours. Solid training program.

    Cons

Bureaucracy and size of the firm. Can be tough to find information that you need. Can be tough to communicate with people at times. Micromanagement.

    Advice to Management

Focus on returning to what the firm has done well in the past rather than trying to implement new methods just because they are popular.
Offer more competitive benefits and salary to retain young talent.
