I worked at Blizzard Entertainment as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

I can't give enough praise to the work environment that Blizzard has put together. Alot of companies like to portray the same image but Blizzard actually delivers. I've been in the industry for around 10 years and worked at over 25 client sites and this is the first place I can truly say that I loved coming to work every single day.

Cons

Deadlines and deliverables were never concrete.

Advice to Management

You're doing an amazing job. Keep it up!

I worked at Blizzard Entertainment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Wonderful facility, great medical/dental/vision plans, Friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

When promoting employees they tend to overlook qualities and strengths and instead they choose employees based on a "popularity contest". Ive had many friends that should have received a raise/promotion but they were overlooked because they were the quiet type. They have metrics that are not concrete and are unreasonable. Right when you think you're doing great they change the metrics again and you have to work towards a new goal to try and get a raise.

Plain and simple they have a well constructed system that makes raises very difficult. Be prepared to get paid less than what you're actually worth. They know that there are fanboys out there that are willing to do this job for next to nothing and they have mentioned it to employees before.

    Advice to Management

Restructure the metrics system and offer a more competitive pay.

I have been working at Blizzard Entertainment full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You could work in the video game industry! Work your own full-time schedule and get free playtime for your World of Warcraft addiction.

    Cons

Except you'll be working graveyard and you're about as prestigious as a front desk supermarket employee. Be prepared to handle a lot of work.
