I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Everything is team dependent
Pay, work ethics, quality of work etc.
In general, pay will be good in any team.
If you are in a relatively new team then you may be using C++ and somewhat latest technologies.

Cons

Most teams will not tolerate tardiness and late arrivals, however late departures are always welcome here (infact much needed).
Fortran and really old technologies are still prevalent in some teams. If you work there for 4 years, you are rendered almost useless for any other company.
Things are changing though and its much better.
There is definitely a lot of politics ( which is not obvious to leaf nodes)

Advice to Management

Less politics., 10B is a dream, then please make it 9B or 8B for all those hard-workers who have been chasing it. (10B is the revenue that Bloomberg targets)

I have been working at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits. Some cool people work here. Smart, interesting colleagues. There's a 20 word minimum but I am struggling to get to it. It's a soul-destroying place to work.

    Cons

Senior management is incompetent, uninspiring, egotistical. The senior managers exhibit a collection of mental and mood disorders to rival Bellevue's wards. Management is there to use Bloomberg as a stepping-stone to other jobs, or to save for retirement, so there is no planning for the future. The company's commitment to TV and digital is questionable. The HR people are shills, nothing more. I've never seen a more cowardly bunch.

    Advice to Management

    Resign.

I worked at Bloomberg L.P. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

smart people, nice perks( food, benefits, building, access to bloomberg terminal), ownership of software, access to training materials and courses

    Cons

Expectation of long hours, software is rushed out with many faults and developers expected to fix them immediately (i.e. middle of the night), disjointed software infrastructure, bad software process, disorganized midlevel management.. Support functions minimal ( no test teams, HR is not responsive, enterprise software is frequently confusing)

    Advice to Management

Bloomberg prizes speed of delivery over everything else. This means that software is rushed out and quality is ensured by requiring programmers to respond to bugs immediatly. This is chaotic environment that makes it difficult to retain engineers. Attempts to alleviate conditions are actively discouraged
