I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than a year)

Pros

discount, people, free gifts, fun events

Cons

commission, on feet all day chasing customers down, rude customer, people stealing your sale you worked hard for, Most annoying thing is customers you worked hard for return everything WHENEVER(years later) and it is taken from your check!! and in training I told management about how to prevent it and they said" make sure you sell them what they want/great style ",, yeah that will stop someone from spending 2k in a dress for an event an then return it later...SMH

Advice to Management

stricter return policy, base pay + commission

    I worked at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great shopping. Open sell environment = bigger commissions

    Cons

CREDIT.... Opening the cards (challenging) & using their CreditCard to receive your discount. Sneaky.

Discount = high credit card bill.

    Advice to Management

Set your associates up for success... especially when teaching, coaching and then reviewing your team. Embrace new forms of technology to contact clients. Phone calls are really annoying to many clients. Email and even texting clients about presell events are options to strongly consider.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Bloomingdale's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great discounts & offers for employees from time to time.

    Cons

Unprofessional, cut throat, negative work atmosphere. Very little support from dept. managers, they are just a figure head. Upper managers micro manage constantly and pass on negative comments that get repeated to everyone. There is ZERO confidentiality. Unpaid training & meetings. Training when new is new non existent, and co-workers refuse to help as they feel they are in competition with you. Favoritism is rampant. High school like work atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Provide better structured training that will help in your area of expertise. Treat all employees as valuable. Have a dedicated customer service department.
