Pros

One of the first pureplay's prior to the .com bubble burst that not only made it but was very successful. A strong business model in a very lucrative retail market. A company who knows how to recruit both business and technical talent. Fast paced work environment with cutting edge technology and an innovative market approach

Cons

Somewhat of an immature arrogant company that neither appreciates it's younger to mid level talent nor how to groom or retain. A very bright young dynamic but power drunk CEO who managed to take over the healm from it's bricks and mortars founder, creating a somewhat toxic environment. I understand that has changed with it's newly appointed CEO and who's environment has hopefully improved.

Advice to Management

Don't let going public distract you from the roots of your success, your core business model and the backs of the talented brains that helped to deliver the innovation. HR should begin to recognize it's talent rather than it's on-going use and lose policy for the whims and indiscretions of the SMT. Growing pains that will inevitably cost this company a lot.

    Pros

Blue Nile an entrepreneurial company that encourages innovation and thought leadership. It is a good place to work if you are self motivated and like to own projects.

    Cons

Because the company is so small it is challenging to grow professionally. This is illustrated by the high rate of turn over.
