    Pros

-Great hours and and you can't beat the location.

    Cons

The downside of working in marketing for Blue Shield of California is that there is really not much marketing being done. Marketing is informational and dry -- not by any fault of the marketing or creative teams, but just by the nature of insurance. It's so highly regulated that it hampers creativity.

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to do a better job of looking at mid-level managers' performance. Mid-level leadership have very poor people management skills or it's non-existent.

    Pros

well funded with some exciting technology project areas
    Sales leadership competent, inspiring

    Cons

bureaucratic, extreme focus on 'process' such that it takes 3 times as long and as much money to get things done, severe aversion to change. Fear to take accountability. Lack of alignment across executives resulting in tremendous resource waste

    Advice to Management

Find a way to become comfortable with your decisions and then stick to them, support your teams in executing against them. Feels like decisions are often made but you're not entirely comfortable with the content but feel pressured to make a decision. Result is at the smallest hiccup you become paralyzed.
