The salary and benefits were okay.

Cons

Too much polictics and not enough care for their employees.

Advice to Management

You should offer growth for all employees with or without college degrees. Promotion should be based on years of experiences and good fit within. Look to should interest in their employees and less favoritisms.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

They have lots of money in the bank, it would take years to shut this company down, things are more stable as a result than other companies. If you can tolerate the BS, it pays the bills.

    Cons

SVP's are not aligned - there is chaos at the top, many SVP's openly dislike their peers, makes life miserable for those beneath, not a good time to sign up with this company.

    Advice to Management

Analysis paralysis is killing this company - stop asking for multiple iterations of power point presentations, and make some decisions.

    Recommends
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

The people that work at BSC are smart and have an overall concern for doing the right thing. Personally I enjoy working in a company that has a lot of change going on and with a powerful Mission. There are also a lot of great changes underway with implementing Facets, doing a huge jive pilot and a culture initiative.

    Cons

One downside of working at BSC is that it can be difficult to be productive, due to systems and applications being old, IT and Procurement process being laborious and/or slow and there can be more micromanagement than is really necessary. You become versed in how to get things done, but it takes time. Additionally, leaders are not required to take training nor are they held accountable for their effectiveness as people leaders so the maturity level and self awareness of leaders is not where it could be, at all levels of the organization.

    Advice to Management

When there is a problem, any problem look first at how you may have contributed to it.
When making decisions, go beyond just looking at the cost, consider the impact it will have on people and their ability to do work.
Show employees that they are appreciated by making it easier for them to get work done.
Take a learning approach to issues/failures to help improve performance by asking what can we learn and how can we do things better next time?
Share clear expectations of what it takes to be successful and avoid publicly "schooling" people in meetings.
Talk to people about how their contributions are adding value.
Do not presume because someone is an experienced leader that they don't need training.
Showcase good leaders who lead well and maintain the self esteem and self confidence of employees. Let go of leaders who perform tasks well, but who make people around them feel bad.
    Thank people regularly and meaningfully.
