I worked at Bon Appétit Management full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Smaller company owned by huge conglomerate; small company feel with big corporate backing.
Business principles are good if/when followed; fresh, local food when and wherever possible.

Cons

Senior management not consistent with expectations of individual managers
Senior management doesn't back individual managers if inconvenient
Inconsistency with overall treatment of managers - especially men vs. women (look at their ratio of men to women chefs/managers....)

Advice to Management

Open your eyes....not everyone is doing business the way that you may think they are.

    Pros

    Some of the employees were cool. Parked your car in an underground garage if you get there by 6am.

    Cons

    Management and no sense of direction. Really made me leave the industry that I loved.

    Advice to Management

    Get rid of managers. Hire more educated people with experience.

    I worked at Bon Appétit Management as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Reasonable pay
    - Health and vision insurance after probation period
    - Fun events for holidays
    -You get to meet other talented people

    Cons

    -Management style promotes a first and second class system between client and contractor.
    -Limited growth within the team and inadequate compensation when you are a lead.
    -Unpaid hours on time card (Doesn't happen to everyone,but it happens)
    -Supplier choices do not match up with mission statement 100%

    Advice to Management

    Be active on the line with the team during a rush and listen to what the staff say. You'd be surprised how useful our advice is.
