    The company name has an excellent reputation so you can be proud to work there
    The company's 401K annual donation is generous

    Cons

    Pressure to hire people when there is no work for them to do is a hidden way to pressure you into capturing new business. It's all about head count and revenue. But up until this year, quality people were treated as a valuable asset. The new operating model will have you out of a job if you go longer than 30 days under 90% utilization. People are constantly terrified they will lose their job. Ambitious managers are allowed to run their teams without any regard to building the employee's career. You can be placed in situations that stagnate your career so that your manager can inflate his career. This lack of consistency across the teams within teams makes it a crap shoot where you end up working inside the firm. Some managers do a lot better by their employees. The new operating model can trap you under a career manager. Until this year, you could switch managers. Until this year we conducted 360 degree interviews and hiring was a team approval operation. Now the manager or Senior Associate makes that decision without regard to the team opinion. This change happened over night and with no fanfare or explanation.

    Advice to Management

    Stop the take share hiring because it allows Senior Associates to jeopardize their employees careers by pressuring them into hiring people they have no work for and it makes the employees lives ones of terror.

    Pros

    Booz Allen Hamilton is a top employer in the DC area and a premier consulting firm to the US Government. It continues to experience rapid growth and a diverse workforce. The outlook for continued growth looks strong in the Nation's Capital economy, which is protected in part from national issues.

    Cons

    Downsides are limited and depend entirely on your personal experience. Strong performers are rewarded and opportunities for showcasing talent are very open. Becasue of the size of the company, the overall high level of talent, and a focus on recruiting top performers, mediocracy will not necessarily get you noticed by senior management.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to focus on your employees through internal communication and feedback forums, both formal and informal. As the company continues to grow, retaining the small-firm feel that has contributed to the high morale of employees over the past 20-30 years will be an important consideration.
