I worked at BorgWarner full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The Seneca plant has comparable pay for the area and adequate overall benefits. The location has a good local reputation and can be a good neighbor to the community.

    Cons

The current condition of the Seneca location is at best sad. The site is simply lacking. Seneca is lacking enough parking spaces, enough bathrooms, enough break areas and so on. The crowded and cluttered nature of the shop floor is down right dangerous. The passive nature of the leadership is disconcerting. The condition and age of much of the manufacturing equipment and instruments is shameful.

    Advice to Management

Please save this once proud part of the local community.

I worked at BorgWarner as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interns are allowed to work on serious projects along with full-time employees. The work culture is extremely relaxed, and 'mentoring' interns is taken very seriously. With the company projected to grow quickly over the next few years, interns who work hard are almost always offered full-time employment. People are extremely approachable and friendly, and there is a strong sense of bonding among all the employees. There is a strong emphasis on maintaining a good work-life balance.

The area (Asheville/Arden) is perfect for people who love the outdoors, as there are plenty of hiking, biking, trekking trails. The Smoky and Appalachian Mountains are all in the area.

    Cons

The plant is not in Asheville as advertised, but in the nearby town of Arden, NC. People at work are extremely passionate about automobiles, so lunch-time (indeed, anytime!) conversations revolve only around cars, which can get a little dry for someone with other interests too.
