Pros

The people are great, friendly, and kind. Everyone is pleasant to work with. Work / life balance is very loose, no one is forced to work "overtime".

Cons

Certain departments are full of under achievers and under performers, who are standing in the way of very capable people. The Bank has not once culled the dead weight. If you are an all-star performer, don't expect to get an all-star salary / bonus here.

Advice to Management

If you want to maintain a team of excellent professionals you must pay them a market salary / bonus. No one likes picking up the slack of underperforming co-workers.

    Pros

Work Life Balance appeared to be a priority as everyone for the most part was out of the office by 5 PM on most days

    Cons

Politics. Small place, neither Private or Trusting. Cannot voice concerns as it gets circulated around the company.

    Advice to Management

Gear your efforts towards getting up to speed with how things are in the banking industry. Otherwise when larger banks decide to go after your share of the market, you will have no defense to keep your current clients, let alone attract new ones.

I have been working at Boston Private full-time

    Pros

People are generally nice to work with. Office building and environment is very nice. I know what I'm doing and am now on autopilot. Technology is improving slowly but surely. Company holds red sox opening celebrations and pizza get togethers which help team building and engagement. Groups such as Early Career Professionals and Women's Connection help employees get to know other and network.

    Cons

Lot of change currently with many long tenured employees leaving. No opportunity for career growth as there are limited job openings at the top or very specific skills/experience are needed which you can't get at BP.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the people, they are what keeps the company going. Strategic goals are important but not at the cost of employees.
