I have been working at Brady full-time

Pros

Really good people to work along side with

Cons

Lack of decision making, not clear who owns what, lack of accountability, too many people protecting themselves and their jobs. Lack of clear direction on priorities and goals

Advice to Management

Need to not be afraid of conflict, encourage feedback and respond quickly to issues and problems with decisiveness and clear understanding of all of the ramifications.

I have been working at Brady full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay for those who started when the company was great (6+ years ago) or if you are a College Graduate (Marquette preferred). Clean environment. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Every decision is made looking at short term bottom line. They outsourced so much (Manufacturing, Help Desk, Finance) overseas - Mexico, China, Slovakia, Malaysia and India. Cheapened quality of new and existing products. Way too much management, not enough workers. Beaurocracy strangling quality and real change. Management says all the right words (buzz words) and make it sound like they are doing the right things, but actions speak louder than words - those who talk a good game and give numbers management want to hear go far but those who request real improvements that cost money that won't be made back in a year or less are ignored or belittled.

    Advice to Management

Good young talent is leaving and many older workers would leave if they could find jobs that would come close to current pay. Many not saying what they really feel in your anonymous surveys because they don't trust you or the surveys.

    I worked at Brady full-time

    Pros

Employee friendly environment, good benefits, good culture. Work-life balance is pretty good in most areas. Company leadership is quick to respond to financial downturns (which is positive for overall company bottom line, but not so positive to employees)

    Cons

Most on leadership team have come up through the ranks (which is positive), but it also means many have no frame of reference outside of the Brady culture. In bad economy there is a layoff almost every year.

    Advice to Management

Need to develop new products, not just revisions of the old ones. And get these products to market faster. Begin recruiting at different universities.
