I have been working at BrightStar Care full-time (More than a year)

Pros

If you are looking to buy a franchise in the health care field, this is a great franchise to own. Corporate HQ staff are great to work with and want you to be successful in every way. They continue to improve their systems and fine tune their business processes. Brightstar has field support staff to help you along the way so that you are aware of the KPIs and other targets to help you in your strategy to achieve profitability.

Cons

I don't think that inner forces are against anything that you do. There is plenty of opportunity for personal growth and compensation if you follow what they tell you to do. Unfortunately, outside influences such as minimum wage, Obamacare, over regulation in the health care industry, and other anti small business measures are putting pressure on franchise owners.

Advice to Management

Continue to support your franchise owners with open communication and dialogue to help them bring success to their companies more quickly. Creating committees and allowing the owners to bring about changes in systems and processes will bring about unity and overall satisfaction in having their voices heard above the interest of an individual or group of executives.

    I worked at BrightStar Care (More than a year)

    Pros

    Plenty of hours, if you want to work you shouldn't have any problems here

    Cons

    Make you pay for your background check and drug test, and don't tell you this upfront. You have to find out when you get your first check, and then no one seems to know how much will be taken out for it total. You make the schedulers mad they will make your life hell. You will have an assignment set for 2-3 weeks and then they tell you the client doesn't want you to come back. Only to call you a few days later wanting you to work with that same client. When you tell them that you were told the client didn't want you to work with them anymore they tell you that not what they said. The schedulers don't communicate with each. I got a call from all of them in one day all about the same shift. Even after I told them no.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees better. Don't hide anything from them when hiring them, like having the employees pay for their own background check and drug test. Also teach the schedulers how to treat the employees with respect and don't try to screw the employees out of their raises just because you don't want to give them. Respect is earned, not given.
