Pros

nice camp, good food, new trucks. RWA. Lots of work early and late season. You can always get a job if you call brinkmart. Good organization.

Cons

bid low. 11 cents required screef, the entire contract was in an eight year old fill plant. people were killing themselves to make $250. I few walk ins but not many. Contract did not allow you to bag up more than a box of trees (180) only unwrap one bundle at a time. Typical lousy contract, every week a truck full of people left and a truck full of people showed up.

Advice to Management

Stop low bidding, trim the fat in the head office.

    Pros

Mainly the money, and they have a lot of work around BC and alberta. They have a very good training program.

    Cons

The more uselss you are the more likely you'll be promoted. This is a very large company with a large head office and lots of people in managment. Most people feel the contract work this company performs is expensive with very little value. Most managers are inexperienced and tend to make a mess of things. Few company policies are ever enforced. Most of the HR is not done by professionals and done ad-hoc.

    Advice to Management

    More feedback and communication.

  2. "Ontario outfits are not worth your time"

I worked at Brinkman & Associates Reforestation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You indeed get to plant trees. Food and general meals were well made.

    Cons

They will promise different rates for specific pieces of land but not pay it. They do not always line up enough work for their crews, so they will drop you at random even if you are meeting your required numbers. They do not know how to train their crew chiefs properly if at all. If they breach the labor laws of Ontario, they will just stop answering your call.

    Advice to Management

Stop calling it peace work so that you can screw over workers and breach the labor laws.
