I worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Generally collaborative environment within the various business units, opportunities for young aggressive employees, good perk (summer hours from May until Sept). Generally good people to work with.

Cons

BMS is continually downsizing its employee base, outsourcing and moving operations to low cost locations. Stress level of remaining employees is high. More global responsibilities mean working hours increase and expectation is that you are available for conference calls at all hours. Policies and systems put in place create more bureaucracy. Do not really do a good job of understanding the impact of executive decisions in various functions and how they impact those who are tasked with doing the work.

Advice to Management

Need to get better collaboration between functions (Legal, Finance, Compliance, Mfg, Sales, Marketing) and better understand how to take unnecessary work out and make BMS a more nimble and less bureaucratic organization

I worked at Bristol-Myers Squibb as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Do cool work, decent compensation, good guidance. Overall a good experience and had the chance to work on and finish a project. Manager helped me out a lot and taught me a lot

    Cons

a lot of bureaucracy and some things are very inefficient. heavily, heavily biased towards biologists. They have no individuals with any programming experience (even though the tools they use are all based around programming).
