Pros

The people across the organization are top notch talent and are very collaborative.
Marketing Training is gold standard
Products extend and enhance human life
It is possible to build a career in the opportunities at BMY

Cons

Location in Central, NJ is less than ideal, but could be worse.
Downsizing rather regularly these days, but who isn't?
Bureaucracy is still very prevalent.

Advice to Management

Keep up the good work in executing against strategy. A plan that has been in action for several years is coming to fruition. The management team in place continues to make the tough decisions to make BMY successful and sustainable. Kudos.

    Pros

For the most part, the people are the best part of working there.

    Cons

Unfortunately, there are others who are very power hungry and aggressive who can make it difficult for others.

    Advice to Management

Listen to feedback from those who actually perform the job function and not just department management

  2. "It was a good place to work, needs to reduce bureaucracy."

    Pros

    Outside vendors take you seriously.
Upper management is taking on the challenges facing Big Pharma instead of burying their heads in the sand like the others.
They have well-run regulatory and research operations groups.

    Cons

It's a country club for some, a sweatshop for others. Your experience at the company will depend greatly on what group you're in. Also don't get too good at something or else you'll get stuck with it. If you can call in favors with the BMS bureaucracy to get things done you will succeed. If you actually expect others to do their jobs you will fail.
Very process-focused, especially in IT groups. They'll spend 4 hours debating how someone else should do 30 minutes of work. Decisions are made in an ad-hoc manner making it hard to develop a standard way of doing things.

    Advice to Management

Bring IT back in-house and use outsourcing to supplement or provide off-hours coverage. I seriously needed two weeks to get 30 seconds of work done for a server.
Find ways for productive employees to thrive with new challenges.
Get more mentoring and career development instead of letting workers fend for themselves.
