I have been working at British American Tobacco full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Very good learning environment, full understanding of corporate culture, globally open career path, better than expected internal relations, competative level of benefits and salaries

Cons

High rate of staff rotation make you feel unsafe sometimes. There is no enough amount of control over duty performance of some departments. IT security regulations are much more strict then enough.

I worked at British American Tobacco full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Global reach, ability to run meaningful initiatives if you make a solid case for change.
Predominantly experienced and passionate professionals with product affinity, corporate social responsibility is a genuine part of its culture.

    Cons

Potential risk of a schism between HQ and Regions/End Markets due to increasing numbers of local recruits into Globe House with insufficient 'coal face' exposure.

    Advice to Management

Safeguard adequate employee rotation across the globe, which is why most people join a multinational.

I worked at British American Tobacco full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great renumeration, people, career opportunities, autonomy and challenges of working within a highly regulated environment.

    Cons

Highly political environment where numerous people were 'over-promoted' and could not back these promotions up with either the skills or experience.

    Advice to Management

It's been a busy year of change at all levels at BAT, and it is slowly getting rid of all those that do not have the skills/experience to perform at their level. The challenge for management will be change the culture into one that moves the business forward at the same time as retaining the good talent it has. If there is one piece of advice it would be to tell the employees what the new vision of the company is and if this has not changed....how they are going to achieve this faster than what was previously being done.
