    I have been working at British Gas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Share scheme, half decent pension, qdos.

    Cons

    No recourse, stick by, usually poor, managers. Bit like working for a posh council, established nepotism and too many people waiting out for their pension. Opportunities usually allocated before job is advertised. Not the 'British Gas' of old.

    Advice to Management

    Salespeople rarely make the best managers.

    I worked at British Gas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Variety of businesses to work in, good geographic split in the UK and a real desire to move away from being known as "the gas board" of old

    Cons

    Frequent, almost yearly redundancies in support functions, an ageing and non scalable technology stack in the home service business, constrained salary scales

    Advice to Management

    look externally and focus on driving exceptional customer experiences. It's not all about using the latest toys, you need to be able to leverage them properly
