I have been working at Broadcom full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Runs like a small start-up company, great plan in ESPP and RSU, salary is above average in the industry

Cons

Position title is in inflation; more senior principal engineer than principal.

I have been working at Broadcom full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Cutting edge technology and chips in many of the hottest products out on the market. Most people are friendly and care about what they do.

    Cons

Hard to advance, and management is unforgiving. Always too much work to do, and always seemingly short on resources. Also vacation policy is horrible. Salaried workers get "unlimited vacations" but the caveat is your manager must approve of the time off. Great if you have a cool manager. Sucks if your manager is a workaholic and disapproves vacation requests most times.

    Advice to Management

Hire enough workers to support the workload. Relying on interns isn't a smart path, since time wasted on retraining every few months or yearly.

I worked at Broadcom as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good team, Challenging work, Freedom to suggest solutions...are few reasons for working in Broadcom. I was based in Sunnyvale and was allocated in the LTE team. Was a testing role but also could suggest development alternatives.

    Cons

Nothing much to complain about. Work was good, team was supportive and the place is very near to San Francisco. Had fun and work both.
