I have been working at Broadcom full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Opportunities to get involved and grow if you take them.
Get to work on bleeding edge tech and play with products in development before they hit the streets.
Budget is generally big so accessing equipment and travel is relatively easy.
There's always some interesting problems to work on.

Cons

You won't get offered any alternative work or promotions if you are merely good - you have to be actively pushy.
Not a trendy young hip company.
Large and bureaucratic. They claim to retain the 'startup mentality' and be 'nimble' but that is utter twash and they are mired in large company internal politics just as any other.
While there are obviously some smart people working there, there are a lot of very mediocre people too. This is probably due to a poor recruitment budgeting system that puts pressure on managers to hire as soon as they can since they don't know if budget will be removed at any time for their recruitment. And also since Broadcom is not a 'cool' high profile company it doesn't get the best candidates applying there.
Very California and USA centric thinking.
More work less life - but this is probably typical of any big company in USA these days.
