Pros

There is a great sense of camaraderie at the Warren location because of the plant manager. Though he may soon move up the ladder, he's wonderful at developing those beneath him and he extremely personable.

Cons

As a material planner, you may be pressed to work many 12+ hour days. It was typical for me to spend 50-60 hours a week at work, unplanned.

Advice to Management

Don't change much, it's a successful system.

    Pros

Very high end coffee machines and coffee at no cost to the employee. Above average benefits package.

    Cons

Senior management encourages and nurtures a class warfare system. As an employee, you are told of your place in the line of decision making. This is a German behavior and does not translate well here in the U.S. There is no room for suggestion towards improvement, and are ignored, unless they benefit senior management. Zero team work atmosphere encouraged. If you are lucky enough to have a German manager, you are swayed to promote other team mates short comings. The American managers do try to change the culture, however, as they are promoted to senior management, the metamorphosis happens (6 weeks in Germany) and all prior ideals are lost. It is difficult to feel satisfied with your job when you measure your performance by surviving regular character assassinations by other "swayed" employees. Brose advertises their "awarding winning" flex-time policy, yet if you leave before 5:00 pm (regardless of start time), you are questioned and warned. The flex time is for managers on Golf night. No amount of salary can make Brose employment satisfying on a personal or professional basis. WHETHER YOU ARE LOOKING TO MAKE A CHANGE OR ARE UNEMPLOYED, DO NOT HURT YOURSELF BY ACCEPTING A POSITION WITH THIS COMPANY, THERE ARE OTHER COMPANIES HIRING THAT TREAT THEIR EMPLOYEES FAIRLY.

    Advice to Management

Take a look at yourself and put yourself in an employee’s position, and ask yourself if you would work in this environment? Remove yourself from your current position of 20% yearly bonus, car allowance, manager parking spot. People are leaving because of the hostile, un-motivating work environment, not for more money.

"It is very structured to the point of excessive. Germans have their norm, don't challenge it."

    Pros

Their benefits package and insurance is the best I've seen in my years in the industry. You about $150 per month for a family but almost every little detail is covered under the insurance with no waiting period.

    Cons

You get paid once per month. The company is German based and very strict. Sometimes to the point of excessive. Hours of operation are between 8-5. If you come in a minute late or have to leave early for any reason someone is telling on you. Flex time applies only outside of the 8-5 window. So if you come in at 6, you are working till at least 5. If you worked 10pm, you are expected to be there no later than 8.

Computer systems on their network are very slow. They tap into Germany for their network connection so you can only imagine how long things take. Internet Explorer and going to google for example takes about 7-20 seconds to load.

They provide blackberrys for employees, however, they do not subscribe to a data package so the only way to get email to your phone is you have to connect through WiFi to one of their networks. The only way to get on their network is to be in their building. So, what's the point of getting email to your phone if you only need 10 steps into a building to grab a walk up computer. A lot of their methodologies are completely backwards.

    Advice to Management

Use common sense when doing business. If you have a problem such as employees want email to their phones to be more efficient, don't give them blackberry's only connectable through Brose WiFi. You are essentially fixing a problem that has another problem.
