    Approves of CEO

    Pros

    - Laid back environment
    - Partners are respectful to junior employees but BBH lifers run the show
    - Very professional and helpful human resources department

    Cons

The inside truth - As a seasoned Wall Street employee, I agreed with some earlier posts and added my opinions here:

    - Some managers have no patience at all in bringing new employees up to speed. BBH has a very unique, general and simplistic way of doing things compared to Investment Banks on Wall Street; managers just expect you to know the BBH/Custody Bank "way of doing things," which is very unfair to any new employee who worked elsewhere. This note was already stated in an earlier post on this website.

    - In an interview, a hiring manager will tell you that you can learn some things on the job but when you join, the hiring manager will expect you to know everything about the job and hit the ground running on day one (no exaggeration at all.)

    - Old BBH lifers (middle managers, not partners) do not have the strongest technical backgrounds themselves. You will be shocked at their lack of general knowledge within their related discipline if you had the same conversations that I had. Therefore, in all fairness, managers should treat a newcomer to a fair standard within his or her first three months of the job. (certainly not an unfair thing to ask)

    Advice to Management

Don't just expect new employees to start out and know the BBH way of doing things. Most employees from the Investment Banks will tell you that BBH has a different way of doing things compared to the rest of Wall Street. Do encourage middle managers (even if they are BBH lifers) to show a bit of patience in getting any new employee up to speed. Yes, a little training will be required as no new employee is a mind reader who happens to know everything about the job from day one; providing a clear direction to new employees is crucial if managers truly care for an employee's development within the firm.

I sincerely hope that other new employees do not have the same negative experience that I did so I kindly ask that you please take this feedback seriously.
