Pros

There are a few people in leadership roles that have a vision for growth, but some are less interested as they near retirement. This leads to a strange environment at times where you feel like the company is growing but somehow fresh ideas get stifled and poor business decisions make it difficult to scale correctly. Overall, good people, but it's a small company and policies seem to change daily. This is mostly due to the owner's indecisive nature. He is a great boss who understands his industry very well, but often makes more missteps then good calls when it comes to reinvesting in the company. He is also nearing retirement which makes the future of this company uncertain.

Cons

Uncertain future despite recent growth.

    Pros

Burg is a great place to start a project management career. Management is focused on supporting the team with all the necessary training and opportunities for professional development. A Client Manager has the opportunity to work on a variety of projects with large corporate clients and leads each project from initiation to delivery. It is a very flexible work environment: working remotely is encouraged though not mandatory, time off is flexible and the manager is very accomodating in regards to any special requests for time off/working remotely. Bonuses can significantly add to the basic compensation and primarily depend on the dollar value of the projects managed.

    Cons

Small company, but with potential for growth.

I worked at Burg Translations, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small company, interesting and lively coworkers, free lunch. It's an interesting way to get your foot in the door and to see what the industry is all about .... and that the translation industry exists!

    Cons

    High turnover
    No training
    Current employees and management inexperienced
Severely outdated technology - an insult to respectable clients
Chronic toxic work environment filtering down from the top

    Advice to Management

What has been said ad nauseam in meetings, emails, and reviews cannot be said again. Take an interest in the industry and the company or simply leave.
