I worked at Burlington Stores full-time

    Pros

Some very nice people. Lots of smiles even though everyone is suffering. I got paid pretty well, though they purposely gave bad reviews to people because earnings were so bad and they looked for an excuse to save the money.

    Cons

Totally mismanaged organization that works you to death. Corporate structure is a disaster, everyone is afraid to make a decision, sales growth is non-existent and spending is out of control. If you like to spin your wheels, pull your hair out, and then get a poor review because they don't want to pay you your entire bonus that you clearly earned, then this is the place for you. A number of inexperienced people in high places that can determine your fate too. People here will slit your throat and leave you for dead.

    Advice to Management

Restructure the organization & get new people in there at the top. Otherwise the earnings & employee morale will continue to suffer.

I have been working at Burlington Stores full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The people are very friendly

    Cons

If you want to feel like you are being babysat, this is the job for you. There is such extreme micro managing going on in this place that salaried employees might as well punch a time clock. The talent management process is non existent even though they tell you how much they thrive on growth and development. There is no work/life balance and work from home, summer hours etc are highly frowned upon. I think so many employees have been here so long it's all they know..and don't realize how well other companies promote growth and allow there employees flexibility. You will have culture shock when you leave this company..but it will be for the better.

    Advice to Management

Time to overhaul management. If senior managers are consistently earning poor scores on employee surveys, why are they still there? Put them on a performance plan or get rid of them...it's not working.
