Pros

Great product, respectable company, decent benefits. Do feel at least back then, several years back that the company does cares about employees.

Cons

Sometimes, it's a seniority based instead of merit based recognition.

Advice to Management

Be open to new ideas and new blood. IT's great that so many people choose to work a Burrelles for a long time but it's always good to see what's going on outside.

I worked at BurrellesLuce full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I worked for Burrellesluce for almost a total of 30+ yrs as an Editor/Reader, and I was good at my job. I miss it very much, and I wished they did not close our office as it had been in hometown for over 100 yrs., and we were a very productive office. I know they stated they closed us because of economic reasons, but they should of looked at the quality of our work compared with their other office's across the country, and figured out a way to keep our office open.

    Cons

The pay was not in line with the cost of living for today.

    Advice to Management

Think about your good employees. I know the bottom line is important as with all businesses but they needed to remember the employees are the real backbone of any company, and when you close an office that had been opened for over 100 years, it affects the former employees in a big way who were loyal to the company.
It has been very negative for my life, as it was the only I knew how to do, and I am too old to go back to school, graduate in four years, and then try to get a new job as when all that is done, I will be up in age but won't be able to get retirement because I haven't reach the required age-I'm caught in catch 22 situation.
