No opinion of CEO

I have been working at CA Technologies as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

Good opportunities for students at Stony Brook university, to get professional experience and make money

Cons

None in particular. They should provide extra guidance , rather than students learning themselves

I worked at CA Technologies (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some really smart good people can be found throughout the org. In 2007-2009 internal process went through a massive overhaul (tks Mike Christenson) and is now running efficiently in terms of quota setting, deal process, customer support process, etc... Plus, there are enough tenured employee's who know how to get things done, as well as know how things were done in the past, to be able to correct any conflicts.

    Cons

Where are they headed? Leadership is desperately searching for the next step. Company positioning to be sold??? Company to move in a innovative way into big data or data integration??? No one seems to know. Also, lots of "me-to" technology. Much of which works well, but, expensive for clients to swap in and out of so why do it versus staying with competitive offering and merely negotiating price.

    Advice to Management

Make a statement. Stop hiding behind the massive install base and leverage it do something really creative. Give up short term gains in a gambit to shift the market with a non-Oracle like approach for a change.

I have been working at CA Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Company treats people generally well,

    Cons

they have regular layoffs and periodic shutdowns of spending as the quarters are up and down. Not able to plan or consistently appy a strategy for growth. Not a high wage Pryor and limited stock plan or stock growth opportunity. Very little travel if you like travel unless you are in sales.

    Advice to Management

Growth is more than saying it. Creativity is more than a slogan. There must be tangible effort to support new ideas not just pay lip service to it.
