I worked at CA Technologies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You get paid twice a month
You may get to work from home
Relocation is paid if you are important enough
After 3 years 17 vacation days a year
After 10 years 22 vacation days a year

    Cons

No upward mobility / career path progression
Management views employees as interchangeable cogs
Layoffs, a regular feature of the annual report
    Jobs being off-shored
Management by fear (see last 3 above)
Flavor of the month / jump on the latest bandwagon style of management
Employees seeking to better themselves through education are not supported

    Advice to Management

Accept the fact that CA is a mainframe software company and stop trying to make it something it is not. Putting the mainframe products on life support is a sure way to drive customers to the competition when features they need are not there, and quality issues make them unworkable despite the fact that ease of use CA's green screen products is often better than the competition's.
