I worked at CACI International full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Good environment for a typical large gov contractor. Our VPs and Directors made the difference.

Cons

Like most gov contractors, you're not going to be highly compensated compared to the real world.

Advice to Management

Put a higher value on higher technical performers and compensate accordingly. Establishing a meaning technical career progressing that doesn't graduate to being a people manager.

I have been working at CACI International full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Large company has good education resources.

    Cons

Management cares much more about share prices than employee abilities, to the extent that much potential for better performance is wasted.

The corporate culture values winning contracts over producing quality.

Senior management refuses to acknowledge employee concerns; even during large Q&A sessions.

I've caught managers lying on several occasions to the face of customers, and in front of employees (that know better.)

Loyalty is not encouraged, promoted, or rewarded, and the best & brightest often "outgrow" CACI and seek employment elsewhere.

Decisions appear wishy-washy or have no meaningful reasoning. (i.e. we're moving to a new building because two story buildings are too tall, but changing their mind after lunch.)

Very heavy on management and administrative tasks, light on actual leadership and production. As an example, one project of around 40 had seven managers and six teams. Each team did the same work; and a manager "led" four or five people. Their time was spent filling out redundant and meaningless forms and attending meetings from which no information or guidance ever came.)

    Advice to Management

Do more for quality and efficiency than give it lip service. Since my company became part of CACI, speed, quality and as a result, morale, have steadily declined. Emphasize and reward quality, and give employees a reason to take pride in their work.

Respect employees A LOT more. If you truly cannot tell employees the truth, don't say anything - especially don't say anything when your particular lies wouldn't fool a fourth grader. Actually treat employees as adults - this requires much more than simply calling everyone "colleague."

Improve IT infrastructure. CACI is predominantly in the IT field, and it's embarrassing when simple things like email go down several times every week. Spend less money on employee tracking software and useless updates to software no one uses, and more money on a network that can transfer faster than 40kbps. (From one room to the adjacent room.)

    Pros

Immediate supervisor and co-workers are great.

    Cons

Govt. Task orders get dropped frequently without any notice. Your called an employee, but treated more like a temp. If the project you're on gets canceled, you have till the end of the pay period to find another job.

    Advice to Management

The wars are wrapping up. Better figure out how to earn some money the old fashion way. By earning it
