I worked at CAL State San Marcos part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As a TA you will get the opportunity to gain valuable teaching experience.

    Cons

If you ever want to become a full-time teacher at a community college anywhere in the US, good luck. You will need a PhD to compete. An MA will only open doors to part-time or subbing positions, which don't lead to full-time positions. Part-time hourly rates are substantially lower than full-time rates. There are many frustrated part-time teachers at community colleges who have been working for years hoping the job market will improve. The truth is that it hasn't and it may never improve.

    Advice to Management

    None.
