Pros

virtual home office environment.
payrate competitive
accessible via phone calls for communications

Cons

had to use the internal CDI travel office to make business travel arrangments without input on schedule and vendors, and required to stay at hotels different from the project team member's hotels.
constantly changing hotels that were booked from week to week.
occassional lack of updates on contract renewal/extensions

Advice to Management

keep in touch with contractors with occassional emails and provide ability for contractors to sign-up for an open jobs email broadcast. Allow contractors flexibility to book their own travel arrangements and to select hotels where other team members are staying.

    Pros

They don't bother you. They allow you to do your job and check in occasionally to see if you're doing okay. I've only asked them for a few things and they were very responsive. Apparently churn within the administrative towers is high since I've had 10 or so different account managers over the last 6 years and many different payroll administrators.

    Cons

I was a contractor. No promotions, no raises, no perks. Healthcare is offered at a high price. No assistance from the company. Employee pays 100% of cost. 401k is offered, no matching.

    Advice to Management

Stay in touch with your consulting force. Offer some perks for longevity. Help contractors get rate increases for merit and time in service. Be active and you won't be seen as a Pimp.

    Pros

    Compensation and paid time off

    Cons

Lack of communication and direction from top leaders to the field

    Advice to Management

I agree with CDI One, but it should have been executed soon than mid December with the types of changes that were made.
