Pros

CEB has lots of young people, a laid back, social environment, a great brand new building, and people who willing to work hard.

Cons

Each separate business/program acts indepentdently of each other, creating a disorganized approach to some things which could be done more cohesively across the firm.

Advice to Management

    Pros

Great place to gain experience right out of school. Professional, but young environment. Exposure to c-level executives at an early age. If you prove yourself, you are given much responsibility quickly. It is exciting to have conversations with executives everyday around the strategic priorities, and serve as a trusted advisor.

    Cons

There has been constant restructuring at CEB. The current structure on the revenue side, particularly in the Account Management space does not allow the capacity to serve members to the fullest. Instead of having the ability to go deep on member issues and challenges, the AM roles tend to be quite commercially transactional.

    Advice to Management

It is time to take a closer look at some of the non-integrated departments with separate sales and service roles, and address the compensation discrepancies. While the sales role is a hard one given all of the cold-calling, the Account Management is equally difficult as they are the individuals delivering upon and living up to the expectations set by the sales folks. Not only are they expected to renew business, but to upsell on new products. Account Managers have daily calls scheduled (between 2-3.5hr, plus research request, inbound communication and commercial/renwewal responsibilities).

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

    - Team-oriented environment that encourages collaboration
    - Sweat equity and innovation are valued...if it leads to results
    - Plot your own career plan...don't need to follow the "norm"

    Cons

    - Strong top-down mentality. Change is frequent and dictated from above.
    - Despite improvement, total compensation is still sub-market (DC)
    - Leadership teams particularly in sales and account management are too green and too unstable to be effective in managing their teams
    - Revolving door of talent at all levels, particularly junior and middle levels, due to high attrition and internal movement

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Many opportunities to learn from your own work (in any practice area), but too frequently the ideas are dismissed due to "not enough money" or "too big for our company" initial reaction.
