Pros

CGI Federal is a flexible company that is respectful of its members' work-life balance.

Management is very transparent with respect to its business philosophy and goals.

Cons

Knowledge distribution is somewhat unbalanced.

Members who work observably harder don't seem to be compensated for it.

CGI Federal is quite laid back most of the time (I suppose that could be a "pro" reason for some).

There is no such thing as on-the-job training.

There is little opportunity for growth, unless of course you work there for 25 years.

Compensation is probably a bit under average.

Advice to Management

Don't rely on existing work; get out there and find new opportunities.

The transparency is appreciated--keep it up.

The yearly events are an excellent idea, and they effectively bring the company's members together.

    Pros

    Respectful to employees.
Management tries to communicate and involve everyone in company decisions.
    Mostly smart and friendly co-workers.
    Salary and benefits are OK.
    Stock matching.

    Cons

Not enough recognition for good work.
Such a large company that the individual can get sometimes become just a body.
    Small raises.

    Advice to Management

Senior management seemed to be good to me. Individual managers varied depending on their personality and how busy they were with their own tasks.

    Pros

Sink or swim environment. If you are able to swim, you will get various tasks to build you skillset and set yourself up for growth.

    Cons

Pathetic salaries and bonuses! No true/clear paths to career growth within the organization.

    Advice to Management

It might be better to tell employees before the first week of January that you are not awarding or are restructuring annual/holiday bonuses. Also, telling employees that they shouldn't worry about their salaries b/c if they spent all of their income investing in CGI, they would have seen a better return than a salary increase is a hard pill for college hires to swallow when you are barely paying them enought to make ends meet.
