I worked at CGI full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

strong focus on staff development and lots of opportunities for people who want to advance to dig in and do so...but you have to work for it.

Cons

Some senior leaders are burned out, cynical and far beyond their skill sets. CGI Federal's business is to sell the skills and time of it's staff; i.e. the people are truly the asset. I think some senior leaders forget that.

Advice to Management

Senior leadership (VP on up) needs to be kept in check. And, never sell what you have not properly prepared yourself to deliver (i.e. FFM). I was once told not to confuse sales with delivery. The only people who say that are the arrogant tools who then turn around and tell you to get it done.

I have been working at CGI full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work variety and assortment of projects.

    Cons

Feel under-appreciated, pushed hard, job security not-so-much. Managment seems most interested in hitting numbers, metrics, to hit their bonuses. Annual reviews were a total joke, little effort into preparation by managers. A get this over with annoying exercise.

    Advice to Management

Don't say "I appreciate it" after doing something for a manager. Every manager is scripted into saying "Thanks, I appreciate it", but when you hear it over and over, its meaningless and pointless.

    Pros

Good salary for new college graduate.

    Cons

Specify what consultant means upon hire. Role confusion.

    Advice to Management

Inform your new hires what their actual jobs will be.
