Pros

Excellent location on Sunset Blvd. and contemporary new office space. Great place to work if you're a woman, as it's run by a sister act. Excellent work/life balance, and the company truly values (most) of its employees. Work hours are 10am to 6pm, and management is very casual and laid back with tardiness or absenteeism. Paid parking, and one of the best employee break rooms in the city.

Cons

Nepotism at its worst. Favoritism is a way of life, and to succeed here, its more important that you make nice with the right person than be good at what you do. If you're lucky enough to be well liked by the right people, then you're set for life. But if you're not, or if you do something to upset the wrong people, the environment will get very bad very fast. Mediocrity is valued here; ambition is not.

Advice to Management

In this day and age, the fact that nepotism (at its very worst) exists here is inexcusable. Especially since the company deals in HR and employment law! Favoritism is out in the open, and no one seems ashamed or bothered by it. Managers and Directors who thrive here could never survive anyplace else. Brown nosing equals job security, and those who aren't good at it or refuse to do it won't last too long.

    I worked at CPEhr full-time

    Pros

The executive management team (Harold Walt and Faith Branvold) are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They both lead the monthly staff meetings and genuinely care about the employees. Even some of the middle managers are awesome. Michael Holmes and Mitzi Branvold were both very sweet people and genuinely cared about the Client Services team and their success.

    Cons

The client management systems were very antiquated as well as some of the processes for completing everyday tasks. Working remotely was not allowed, even though it would have been completely doable and would have been an easy, inexpensive morale booster for so many employees. Also, because it's a small company, there is not a lot of opportunity for upward growth.

I worked at CPEhr full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If your desperate for a job!

    Cons

Payroll and benefits department has tremendous turnover due to the low pay and overworked hours. They allow clients to do whatever they want despite their agreements. They violate employment labor laws. Benefits manager is on everyone's business and has to micro manage several employees emails before they are sent out. They have no problem sending new employees to enrollment meetings but don't have the confidence that they can respond to an email. The director has no management traits. He dislikes disputes and doesn't know how to handle conflict. People get to play video games and shop galore online but because they are white and are close to execs they get away and even get recognition for their work.

    Advice to Management

Don't turn your back on your staff.
