I worked at CSC full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Many great people who are very friendly and great to work with.
Company ha devolved over the years and is now trying to reinvent itself. Many transformation pains with new KPI's and totally new management team.

Cons

Rate if change is intense and not a very stable environment.
Not for the faint of heart but a lot of opportunity for those who relish living on the edge and taking risks.

Advice to Management

Better take the effort to encourage and set at ease those who you want to stay with CSC or there will be a mass exit which has already started.

    I worked at CSC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Your benefits start on Day 1, and the added employee discounts were pretty good also.

    Cons

    I worked for a person who married their way into management, and had no clue of what it took to run a department and will never learn because they would be outside taking smoke brakes every hour(seriously, I began timing them). The Vice President, thinks he is really a principle because he would walk the isles every other hour to make sure people weren't on the internet without a break sign up, or on their cell phones. Oh did I mention this was an office, not a call center. One supervisor was 2 years out of college, had no office supervisory experience but had a bachelor degree in accounting, and experience as a cashier supervisor before the current position, oh and the relative of a director, so they got the job. The supervisor ultimately grew into the position and would have been a better pick for manager but mainly because of the lack of actual experience in the field its self (besides the manager never did anything, or even interacted with employees unless it was to reprimand them)

    Advice to Management

    Use more time encouraging your employees instead of treating them like kids, and dont be afraid to try new things just because your scared the person giving the suggestion might get your job. Lastly if your going to have a data entry dept, please do not sacrifice the integrity of the QA dept just to make error rates look good. Its really pathetic

    I worked at CSC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good wages, no overtime, education assistance, good vacation and sick day allowance, internal social network. I enjoyed my time at CSC and would consider another position there if the opportunity presented itself.

    Cons

    Processes change constantly and not always for the best. Changes are not always communicated effectively to those impacted. Raises are infrequent.

    Advice to Management

    Before making procedural changes, it might help if those impacted are asked ahead of time of the ramifications.
