    Pros

    Good place to start. CSC provides good training oportunities for some. Lower level managers are some of the best around. The benifits package is quite good.

    Cons

    Employees are just numbers. They look more at education/training than they do ability to perform. They don't motivate their employees at all. Doing an excellent job is not noticed but neither is doing a poor one.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on retaining the good employees and make the tough decesions to get rid of those that just fill a slot and are not doing the job. The numbers of high quility employees that have left or are looking to leave is daunting; those with lesser abilites never seem to leave.

    The work can be challenging and interesting.

    Upper level management does not support middle management or listen to their needs.

    Advice to Management

    When negotiating with a new client, involve the personnel that have to deliver on the promises made to the client. The sales staff seems to have no real understanding of the actual capabilities of the CSC service providers. As an alternative, insist that the people who sell the outsourcing services actually work in a middle management capacity during the first year - explaining to the client why CSC can't do what was promised.
