I worked at CSC full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Broad-ranging but OK benefits. The culture can vary from work location to work location, and varies based on the customer's culture. Most managers are competent.

Cons

401K matching is on the lower-side, and in only crappy CSC stock. No more pension plan. 401K is managed through a private financial firm, which offers only proprietary mutual funds. The company is heavy with management and technical team leadership.

Advice to Management

This yourselves out. Focus on making sure the employees are equipped to meet the customers' needs. Stop using Lotus Notes for everything.

I have been working at CSC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    variety of projects and locations; flexibility of remote assignments; management is making good reorganization moves;

    Cons

like most consulting companies, travel to client Monday-Thursday when remote work not available; typically not agile, many projects driven by older Microsoft Project-type initial schedules with minimal adjustments throughout project; few offices for developers to collaborate; hard to recommend to new grads since they may not be able to develop along side a mentor

    Advice to Management

Need to grow in agile project management; complex Excel and Microsoft Project templates are a project burden

    Pros

-- the stated corporate values are very positive
-- pockets of very dedicated, intelligent people

    Cons

-- upper management does not understand what's important for some business units, eg. consulting
-- implemented corporate level reorganization with regard to individual skills / talent
    -- short-sighted upper management decisions

    Advice to Management

good luck with being successful in the long run -- stop making major changes using a tactical approach
