I worked at CSC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Self directed work, work from home, excellent opportunities to expand. Your career at CSC is based on your decisions and what you want to do.

    Cons

Attitude is finance driven and they do not trust their employees. You must document all your decisions on financial matters, down to each meal. Travel requires two week advance approval.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees - they really do have the company's best interest at heart. Making extra work that does not add value to client delivery just devalues the employees worth.

I have been working at CSC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    * Beats being unemployed.
    * Flexible when there isn't a project with tangible deadlines.
    * No micromanagement at assigned site.

    Cons

    * The salary my first year was more than 2013. With additional duties and skills.
(This was without even adjusting for inflation).

    * Raises are obviously a joke and our division is one of the few profitable ones.

    * Employee contributions to 'benefits' go up every year.

    * It's the annual clawback from the minimal raise, e.g. you get $30 more per paycheck but benefits go up $25 in January.

    * 401K match was recently changed from pay period to end of year. Early quitters and those laid off get nothing.

    * Long time employees don't care anymore. Put in the minimal work. Don't innovate. C.Y.A. might as well be embroidered on their shirts.

    * Client is passive aggressive. A few maladjusted lifers spread their misery around.

    * Expect to earn $10-20K less than the median salary for your skills.

Momentum, wages crushed by offshoring / temporary work visas / recruiting agencies, and rampant ageism in information technology hiring are the main reasons why I haven't left this place. It's where dreams and careers go to die.

    Advice to Management

    Retire.
