Pros

CSC is a very large, well established and conservative company. Within their corporate image, they are very accomodating. They have a lot of infrastructure and are very supportive of their core competencies.

Cons

At the same time, they *are* a large, conservative company. If you are *not* deemed within their core profit competency, they are quick to marginalize at the first sign of a downturn. Their bureaucracy is labyrinthine, and very slow to move. They have very little interest in innovation; the company grows its products by acquisition, not R&D.

Advice to Management

When you pay for advice, heed it. I was given a chance to attend a Senior Leader's conference in 2006; they had some very respected industry analysts speak to them and advise them on how the market was shifting. The news was not well received, so it was largely ignored in the months that followed.

    Pros

Sick Leave keep accrueing without getting reset which can be useful for emergencies after a few years.
Big company with many locations worldwide, and if on the right project, possibility to travel around the world.
On most projects, hours are flexible, and it's possible to work from home.
    Online training/books accessible to employees.
It is possible to grow quickly when willing to invest a lot of time. It is also possible to get a "good" life (little stress/little work) on some long term production maintenance tasks.

    Cons

Many expectations [work extra hours, increased productivity] with little reward.
Not focused on personal growth despite corporate speech.
Focus is on meeting impossible deadlines.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that we can deliver what we promise to avoid having the client "expect more"... delays, issues, costs, ...
Why do we have people that will not do the job give estimates? It should be a combination of people assigned to the project and people with lots of cross projects experience... unfortunately proposals and estimates are provided before any implementation team is put in place.... as if it's going to take the same time regardless of the people working on the tasks.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

A paycheck is better than no paycheck.

    Cons

Poor pay, asked to "do more with less" continuously, CSC is outsourcing some of it's contracted work to cheaper vendors, which leads me to ask (Why would a customer pay CSC to do the work?)

    Advice to Management

Senior management needs to learn to lead.
