Pros

Somewhat flexible hours, great benefits, 401k, different options for insurance, great vacation, great training, great co-workers, an overall good place to work.

Cons

Long hours, not many opportunities for advancement, very little recognition for a job well done, pay is low compared to other pharma companies

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The PTO policy is still very good compared to other companies. And the 401K match is on the high end.

    Cons

CSL treats IT like dirt. Yes, CSL is a pharma company, so IT is not it's core business. But IT is the at the foundation of everything that it does. It needs to open it's eyes and start putting IT are a fore thought instead of an after thought.

The biggest problems are that CSL only looks at situations in the extremely short term, refusing to do any long term thinking. As such many solutions or problems are only exasperated several months down the line, which just causes millions and millions of dollars to be needlessly wasted. Which is bad, but whatever I still my pay check, but that forces 60 - 80 work weeks to be the norm. Weekend work is routine. For that additional work recognition is not given. IT is a machine to be run into the ground.

Since I've been here moral has gotten worse and worse each year. Senior Management will say the political BS in front of crowds, but in smaller more relaxed settings they will make jokes and comment on how they make things go lower, as if it's a game.

If your a perspective employee looking at CSL IT, i would strongly advise you to look else where.

    Advice to Management

Take your head out of the sand and start acting like adults. Treating your employees with respect, treating IT with respect, and thinking more than 3 seconds ahead.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Personal Time Off policy is good - 4 weeks.
    401K match is generous.
    Health benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

Salary is lower compared to market
    Unchallenging work.
Projects take forever to launch and cannot gain traction.
Moral is low, turnover in IT is rising.
No path upward unless you have a GodFather pulling you up.

    Advice to Management

Work with HR to adjust IT salaries to market levels.
Make IT management interact with the business, rather than press the few actual workers for capacity.
