Approves of CEO

Pros

It is an ok place to work, especially in this economy. The shift hours are nice, and co-workers are great.

Cons

Micro management is a big problem and the supervisors play favorites. Also poor performers are kept around way to long.

Advice to Management

Show more appreciation to the employees and stop playing favorites with the staff.

Former Employee - Reception Technician in Hamilton, OH
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

    - You're helping others
    - Very social job
    - Get to know your donors
    - Fun place to work
    - Co-workers are phenomenal
    - Adjusted pay rates for employee donors
    - Corporate often gives away money and prizes for center accomplishments
    - The GM is pretty cool, able to connect with employees

    Cons

    - You get to know your donors... the good, the bad, and the ugly
    - It's easy to be made uncomfortable by comments from donors (not for the shy or faint of heart)
    - Pay is crap. $8.50 starting out to deal with crazy people
    - Potentially exposing yourself to blood-borne pathogens everyday, with every donor
    - Compliance (quality control) is pretty difficult and doesn't offer constructive criticism... it's rather harsh
    - You stand for the whole shift, even in reception, where you'd think that since you're on a computer all day, you'd be sitting for some of it
    - Work every other weekend
    - Can get extremely busy and overwhelming... tough economic times=many plasma donors

    Advice to Management

CSL brings in entirely too many new employees that are often gone pretty quick. Raising the pay would help new employees WANT to stick out the rough patches and continue to be apart of this company. It would save and better utilize the money spent on training.

Former Employee - Phlebotomist in Spokane, WA
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to cross-train, supervise, move up.
    Some travel opportunities.
Sometimes bonuses were awarded after project completion.
Lots of senior employees, lots of experience when you have a problem.

    Cons

Started hiring a lot of young idiots.
Hiring wage went up so that new employees were making more $$ in their 90 day probation than employees who had been there 10-15 years.
Older employees, close to retirement didn't care about their job, did the minimum to get by.
Working with a depressed socioeconomic group.

    Advice to Management

Good leadership, lots of experience there. Look for more dedicated employees, pay better wages to secure the long-haul employees.
