I worked at CUNA Mutual as an intern

Pros

I learned a lot and was given some "real" responsibility as an intern

Cons

The work got really boring, my boss was never around, and I didn't have much to do once I finished my initial project.

Advice to Management

Use your interns. Give them real work.

    Pros

Worked with some great people who were very smart, had several awesome bosses. Underground parking is great in the winter time

    Cons

Wonder how some people manage to stay employed there, add absolutely no value. Some positions seem given based upon who you know, not what you can do.

I worked at CUNA Mutual full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Leading edge technology. Good processes, constant improvement. A good company to learn the ropes and then move on. They do not treat their employees as assets.

    Cons

I would stay with the company no longer than 5 years. They want to keep the top 10% and will help the bottom subjective 10% leave which is determined by age and personality . They do not keep many employees older than 50.

    Advice to Management

The same mistakes made 10 years ago will be made again this year by your new employees as you allow experience to walk out the door.
