Approves of CEO

Pros

Fortune 100 Company, industry leader in both Pharmacy Benefit and Retail.

Cons

Very Large Corporation - limiting abilty to stand out and excel.
Difficult (politically) merger between retail/benefit is making outsiders not give proper value to profitability of CVS, and budget for last few years has reflected that, limiting pay, bonuses, travel etc.

Advice to Management

Focus on rewarding your high performers - if we can keep the best people, having the best corporation will follow.

"Cvs Caremark should be a company that cares!"

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

A good reason to work at Cvs would defenitely be the customers if you genuinely care
    about people.
There are great benefits available to the employees.
As a manager at Cvs, you develop a relationship with two sides of the business....front store
    and pharmacy.

    Cons

The company seems very challenged with staffing and the hiring process.
Store managers are micro-managed and seem to have little input on how to grow the business.
    Morale is very low.
The Good ole boy system is definitely practiced.
There are no checks and balances to ensure employees enjoy some degree of a quality of life.
The company has a program in place for customers to take advantage of savings by using coupons, but simultaneously has a procedure in place that monitors transactions of customers
changing their mind (voids), due to employee recognizing the customer may have the wrong
coupon for a particular product. This method comes across as a form of reprimand for
cashiers and discourages cashiers from being able to provide good customer service.

    Advice to Management

Reach out to the store managers that are least likely to complain.
    Engage more!
    Show sincerity!
    Empower managers!

    "Worships Pharmacists"

    Recommends
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Lots of opportunity in such a large company; the work we do impacts thousands of employees and millions of customers

    Cons

Culture worships Pharmacists, both within corporate and within stores; in general, the people who work at corporate do not embrace new ideas and change; many people at corporate are not qualified to hold their positions - rather, they get the position simply because they are an almight pharmacist

    Advice to Management

Hire people with the skills to do the job, not just pharmacy knowledge; re-examine the way you reward performance and the culture you create because right now it is competitive and not collaborative, and in the end if we don't become more collaborative the organization will suffer.
