I worked at Caldwell Memorial Hospital as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

A pro to working here was that it is convenient to the immediate area. Co workers are always willing to help to share their knowledge.

Cons

The con to working at a hospital is of course the "on call' part of the job. Likewise the con at a private institution is the uncertainty of the time you would leave daily; this type of schedule makes it hard to schedule after work/school activities.

Advice to Management

Make sure there are open lines of communication between you and your employees. Not just the words but actions as well.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Caldwell Memorial Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

An excellent group of therapist as well as other disciplines to work with.

    Cons

Lack of equipment to utilize for therapy needs and to change the mindset of the care team that PT employees aren't to just take patients to the restroom, this activity is gladly utilized during treatments but to be called in for this specific reason only. At times we were treated as glorified orderlies.

    Advice to Management

Educate the other parts of the care team. Staff in services to help address any areas of questions pertaining to safe patient handling as well as patient positioning to lessen skin breakdown. Get our staff involved more quickly, if a patient has been in the hospital for a week and they need to be discharged but have not been out of bed for a week. HELLO !!! Strength and balance will be effected, which could delay the discharge.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Caldwell Memorial Hospital full-time

    Pros

Opportunity to learn a great deal of medicine with a challenging patient population. Great benefit package with compensation for continuing education.

    Cons

Communication with administration is difficult. Medical office assistant staff are pre picked prior and the provider has little to no input regarding those choices. The non compete clause with the distance included borders on ridiculous.

    Advice to Management

Begin with a "yes" attitude instead of an immediate "no" when approached by your staff
