I have been working at Canadian Tire full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Flexibility for work life balance. If I need to work from home to care for a sick child or go to a doctor appointment, my request is usually approved. The benefits and profit sharing are good but the salary is below average. A lot of long term employees who still care about the company.

Cons

Very poor choice of management has resulted in low morale. My managers are awful. Despite numerous complaints filed with HR nothing changes. For the past two years the workload has been too much. This has resulted in lower quality in the work produced... I am no longer proud of the work my department produces.

Advice to Management

Bring in new management.

I worked at Canadian Tire full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Co-workers were nice
A lot of young fun workers with great ideas
Learned a lot about business and marketing

    Cons

-No work life balance, for a pay of 45K you were expected to work crazy amount of hours and always be on your email. Your work is your life there.
-The managers are always pushing for more ideas and "great" work but when it comes to review time there was always an excuse why you wouldn't get that excellent review or that promotion. It seemed like we had to fight for a great review and it was never offered no matter what.
-Most managers lack leadership skills, most of these managers got to where they are by who can suck up to who.
-They do not take managers lack of respect seriously-even though they have the code of conduct on no bullying, the amount of bullying that goes on in that place was disgusting. You really need a thick skin to work in this environment.
