I worked at CannonDesign full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Relatively stable firm with a good reputation to those that do not work in the industry. Those men that play the game can make a good living.

    Cons

Women are treated as second class, particularly in the Finance area. Pay is lower and respect is non-existent. They promote and pay based on your gender and who likes you, not how well you do your job. Work is piled on with no help provided until the employee is on the verge of a break-down. Corporate culture is toxic. The "Elite Spirit" in your Vision seems to translate to "Elitist"; if you're not an Arch or Engineer, you're nobody.

    Advice to Management

There are more "exceptions" than rules; create written policies and adhere to them. Reward high performers, not just those who suck-up to the right people. Recognize and reward contributions to the organization.
Start following all employment regulations before someone reports you on those you choose to ignore.
Live the "Vision" - particularly the part about respect for co-workers.

    Pros

plenty of resources and really great talent to draw knowledge from.

Their 'SFMO' (single firm multi office) way of working does have its pluses as you get to work and meet with various individuals around the country on projects and is a great way to network with different parts of the company around the Globe.

    Cons

    way to political on promotions
    you get pigeon holed easily
infrastructural is poor at best which has to rely on the people that work to pick up the slack which means longer hours.
management is not as solid as a company like this should be and is way to top heavy.. Cannon needs a trim of upper management.

    Advice to Management

for starters, managers you work with need to give you your reviews, not someone you haven't worked with that year.

i know how hard management can be, having to deal with clients, dealing with all the personal problems that employees always go through with individual lives getting in the way of work so managers have little time actually seeing what is being done and by whom. so it seems Cannon promotes and raises based on popularity instead of actual work and accomplishments.
try paying a bit more attention to the real work being done.
