Pros

Some absolutely excellent people. Very committed and dedicated. Very non hierarchical which means that if a person is good they can excel and be recognised.

Cons

Very little reuse anywhere within Capita between different areas or contracts. Rely on the few good people to deliver. Very cost focused which impacts on employee morale when people are not rewarded when they perform well.

Advice to Management

Create a best practices repository. Share information/templates/ways of delivering services so learning can be reused and same mistakes are not made again elsewhere. Put in a clear career path and training programme. invest in staff.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Teams work well together, the job always gets done. Pay is comparable with other companies in the sector. Good office location.

    Cons

Appalling management, constandly changing business direction for no obvious reason. Large degree of job uncertainty with reviews being carried out. No structured career path what so ever. Capita employees are very much just a number, with the compant focused on making money with little of no interest in moral or employee career progression.

    Advice to Management

Introduce career paths. Reduce the countless layers of management. Appreciation of a job well done would be good for moral.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

As an external contractor the pay can be excellent.
    No pointless following of methodologies.
The possibility to work on large, genuinely important projects...

    Cons

... which turned out to be a chimera as management carried out frequent reorganisations for no obviosu reason other than political infighting over budget control. There was no overall design strategy and what technlogical strategy there had been was ripped apart as part of the political machinations. An unhappy place that I was happy to depart.

    Advice to Management

Actually allow people to do the jobs they are hired to do. Not have such a ridiculous network policy that makes anyone who can avoid it.
